The floating cinema at Thailand's Film on the Rocks festival

German-born architect Ole Scheeren designed this auditorium raft Archipelago Cinema, for the inaugural Film on the Rocks Yao Noi festival in Thailand earlier this month. Guests were taken by boat to the floating cinema in the Nai Pi Lae lagoon on Kudu Island where they were treated to a unique viewing experience.

"Surrounded by a dramatic landscape of towering rocks emerging from the ocean, the audience experienced an atmospheric convergence of nature and cinematic narratives - primordial notions of light, sound and stories suspended in the darkness between sea and sky."

The festival, which was curated by filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul and actress Tilda Swinton, is set to become an annual meeting place for art and film.

Movie marketing: Capitol Tour website (The Hunger Games)

Lionsgate has teamed up with Microsoft's Internet Explorer team to provide fans of The Hunger Games with the chance to experience the world of Panem and its Capitol city. Visitors to the website step off the train in the Capitol and can take a tour, visit the Avenue of Tributes and hear an address from President Snow.

The site was designed using HTML5 and CSS3, making the content available across different platforms, devices and browsers without the need for plug-ins. It is animated and colourful, with a detailed view of the city's skyline and its citizens, including familiar characters from the movie. More content will be added over the next few weeks, with a training centre where visitors can see competitors preparing for the games and a memorabilia centre where they can explore artifacts and weapons used in previous Hunger Games.

Ryan Gavin, general manager for Internet Explorer, said: “We wanted to create something that crossed the boundaries of books and movies, and we see this type of online experience as the next evolution in how Hollywood uses the Web.”

Interviews: Joss Whedon, Tim Burton and more

Joss Whedon spoke to Collider about The Avengers, including what kinds of things have been cut from the film: "At some point you stop looking beyond The Avengers movie at your own stuff, you don’t look at that horizon you look at this movie and you go, ‘You know what, The Avengers are more important than I am so these things that I’m obsessed with aren’t necessarily moving the story forward, and therefore they are baggage.’"

Ewan McGregor talked to /Film about Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and his chemistry with Emily Blunt: "You just either get on or you don’t and in my experience I suppose because of the way I and most people go about this, you’re all excited to be making the film and you know what your part is and the job you need to do. If you are working with someone who is as fun as Emily Blunt, it’s easy. She had me laughing for like three months."

Video interview from IFC with the cast of The Cabin in the Woods:

Tim Burton chatted to Total Film about Dark Shadows and its dysfunctional family: "I think all families are pretty weird… We’ve just tried to link the supernatural elements into real issues that families face: like the feelings of a teenager growing up, when your body’s changing and you’re angry at everybody; or the challenge of trying to keep the family together – whether they’re alive or dead!"

The cast and crew of Prometheus spoke to the press at WonderCon 2012. Screenwriter Damon Lindelof said: "I think that there’s a quiet suspense to the movie. It really takes its time. If you have a master filmmaker who’s working with incredibly talented actors, you just have to say, “We’re going to be patient. We do not need to have things exploding, every 10 minutes.” It’s a little bit of an old school approach to filmmaking, in that it trusts the audience to have a little bit of patience."
