Lionsgate has teamed up with Microsoft's Internet Explorer team to provide fans of The Hunger Games with the chance to experience the world of Panem and its Capitol city. Visitors to the website step off the train in the Capitol and can take a tour, visit the Avenue of Tributes and hear an address from President Snow.
The site was designed using HTML5 and CSS3, making the content available across different platforms, devices and browsers without the need for plug-ins. It is animated and colourful, with a detailed view of the city's skyline and its citizens, including familiar characters from the movie. More content will be added over the next few weeks, with a training centre where visitors can see competitors preparing for the games and a memorabilia centre where they can explore artifacts and weapons used in previous Hunger Games.
Ryan Gavin, general manager for Internet Explorer, said: “We wanted to create something that crossed the boundaries of books and
movies, and we see this type of online experience as the next evolution
in how Hollywood uses the Web.”
